Then something started to happen at week 41. I began feeling contractions and had some spotting. As a first time pregnant lady and not knowing what to expect, I called my doctor to tell him what was going on. He then told me to just go to the hospital and get checked out. So Monday afternoon we got admitted but an hour later we were told it wasn't time yet. My contractions were only 10 minutes apart and I was only dilated 2cm. So back home we went. That night my contractions started to slow down and even on Tuesday they were now about 30 minutes apart. Everyone was excited that the time was near, especially my sister who took me for a long walk that afternoon. I got home exhausted from the walk. That night my contractions started to get closer again but only 10 minutes apart. I tried going to bed and resting but had no luck since these contractions were coming every ten minutes. At about 1 in the morning I started to notice they were now anywhere between 6 to 8 minutes apart. i started to think this might be the day and wether or not I should rush to the hospital. Not wanting to get sent back home I just took a shower and kept timing my contractions. With no sleep, tired and hurting I had a doctors appointment Wednesday morning. My sister in law Betty drove me as I was still getting my contractions every 6 to 8 minutes and even 4 minutes apart at times. Then finally, after checking me, my doctor decides that it was time and sent me straight to the hospital. I was now 3 cm dilated. Betty called my husband as he had went to work and I informed my sister. So I was admitted a little before 10am and Julian was born at 9:44pm that's about 12 hours in labor at the hospital and not counting the entire night before. People started asking me "oh ready for the next one?" and so far my answer is NO! Back labor was very painful, I did ask for some meds but decided not to have an epidural. I did get morphine but it was useless, it did not ease my pain not one bit. Just thinking about it, I still feel the pain and pressure on my back with every contraction. The three people I had with me supporting me and encouraging me through it all were my husband, my sister Norma and sister in law Betty. In the end I got my precious "big" boy who came out weighing 9lbs. 10oz and measuring 22 inches. I should have maybe cut back on the cookies and milk shakes =} We came home on Friday afternoon and I had flowers to welcome us home, I love flowers. Maximus was a bit concerned once Julian started crying but now he simply stays under the bed caring for us. He also got used to people coming over and not wanting to jump all over them. I accidentally misplaced Julian's pacifier but max found it. So auntie Norma bought Julian a new paci and we are keeping it far away from max. Dad has been pretty happy to have Julian and whenever he's home he tries to be helpful and give mommy some napping time (if Julian is up for it). My mom has also been taking really good care of us. Making sure I eat, helping with keeping my house clean, and bathing Julian.
